Compress Image to 100KB

This tool runs in your browser and needs JavaScript.

To compress an image to 100KB, select your photo above and download the result. The tool keeps the highest quality that fits, and only shrinks the picture if it must. This limit is common for application forms, ID uploads and profile photos.

How to compress an image to 100KB

  1. Select your photo; 100KB is already set. Your compressed photo appears straight away.
  2. Fix the framing if needed. Use Crop or Rotate, then select Download.

What is a 100KB image good for?

100KB leaves room for a clear full photo. Our detailed 12-megapixel test photo stayed about 1,250 to 1,400 pixels wide, which is plenty for viewing on a screen.

  • Job and college application uploads
  • ID and document photos
  • Profile pictures and email attachments

Tip: For a document, photograph it flat in good light. Clean, evenly lit pages compress far better than shadowy ones, so the text stays readable at 100KB.

Frequently asked questions

How do I compress an image to 100KB?

Select your photo at the top of this page. The 100KB target is already set, and the result is ready to download in moments. The tool finds the highest quality that fits, and shrinks the picture only if it has to.

Is 100KB enough for a clear photo?

Yes, for viewing on a screen. It’s too small for a large print, where you’d want a much bigger file. In our test, a 12-megapixel photo kept about 1,300 pixels of width at this size.

Can a scanned document fit in 100KB?

Usually, if it’s one page with mostly plain background. Crop away the desk around the page and use good light. If small print turns fuzzy, try 200KB if your form allows it.

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. The photo is processed by your own browser and never sent to our server, so this tool also works for ID photos and signatures. You can check by turning off your internet after the page loads: it keeps working, except that an iPhone HEIC photo needs one small download the first time.
